using Createspace

While eBooks might dominate the market, some customers still prefer something tangible. Createspace is a great way to create a POD (print on demand) book for distribution. It will link to your eBook on Amazon (if it doesn’t do this automatically, you can contact Amazon and they’ll do it for you.)

Learning a new program can be overwhelming. So we have created this tutorial for you.

First, you need to go to createspace and create an account. It will use your Amazon username and password, so this part is simple. Be sure to complete all of your account information (so you get paid!)

Next, choose the size of your book. This is personal preference, but the smaller the book trim size, the thicker the book. So if you have a novel that is 40k words or less, you might prefer a 5×8 trim size.

Download the formatted template for your trim size here. Once your novel has been copied into that template you’re ready to begin.

You can make it what you want, but use your head. On average, about $2-3 profit per book is best. The lower the cost of the print book, the more likely it will be bought. Stay inside the market norms. Such as 4.99, 5.99. Don’t chose something odd like $10.35. This is only an opinion. You can do as you wish.

Once you approve the proof, you’ll receive a notification from Createspace that your book will be available online in 24-48 hours.
